If like me you are pale skinned and burn easily, keeping an eye on your skin in the sun is very important even if it does not seem that hot.
Smartsun UK got in touch with me and offered me a sample of their new UV indicator wristband. I thought it was a great idea and they promptly sent me three one use wristbands.
The idea is that you put it on and apply sunscreen to it and your skin. Depending on how much UV you expose yourself to throughout the day it changes colour:
Beige: Reapply sunscreen
Pink: Stay out the sun
I popped mine on when I was out in the garden reading and writing. I tend to stay in the shade until 3pm and then like to soak up some Vitamin D for a while in the cooler afternoon.
I noticed towards the end of the day that it was going a slightly beige colour so it obviously works. You can use it in the swimming pool and on kids too which I think is a great idea.
I wish I had it with me last week when I was walking along the seafront in what was windy but warm weather. I got very sunburnt on my shoulders and if I had had this with me it would have warned me to stay in the shade!
Have you tried anything like this? What do you think of the idea?
